Lisa’s Story
Recovery Triumph: Opiates
My name is Lisa and I’m an addict, I started using opiates addictively when I was 16 years old. I am now a 56 year old grandmother who is very appreciative for addiction research for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren.I have been clean since September 9th, 1999.I have used about every drug around at one time or another but didn’t ever have a problem stopping any of them, even cigarettes. But opiates were my life. My ease and comfort, they were the institution that kept me imprisoned for many years.I was in 14-, 30-, and 90-day treatment programs that I always completed, but never stayed clean until in 1996. I had stolen $45,000 from my employer and I was under house arrest and Federal Probation.(I will send the remainder of this tomorrow. Sorry, but I don’t have a desktop and I am having to type on my tablet and it is pretty time consuming).
