Robin Williams Tragic Death
On August 11, 2014 the great actor and comedian, Robin Williams, was found dead. Investigators believe it may have been suicide. Robin Williams has battled with severe depression and substance abuse.
In the 1980s, Robin Williams struggled with alcoholism and cocaine abuse. After his friend John Belushi died of a drug overdose, Robin Williams quit cold turkey and remained sober for 20 years.
In 2006 Robin Williams relapsed and checked into rehab. In an interview, Williams described his substance abuse, “It waits,” he said. “It lays in wait for the time when you think, ‘It’s fine now, I’m OK.’ Then, the next thing you know, it’s not OK.”
In July of this year, Robin Williams checked into rehab. He told reporters that he had not relapsed but was going to rehab as a precautionary measure.
Robin Williams battled with many demons, including substance abuse and severe depression. It is unfortunate that someone who made so many people happy could come to such a tragic end.
How unfortunate that someone who brought so much joy to people’s lives had such an unfortunate end. It is so important to recognize the importance of mental health.
