Bob’s Story
Recovery Triumph: Alcohol, Drugs, and Cigarettes
I started to drink, drug, smoke, and steal when I was 13 years old. That went on until I was 45. What changed? In one word: God.
God or “a power greater than ourselves” is mentioned in six of the twelve steps at Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. Too few understand, though, that God is the secret to a new and joyful life.
I can’t tell describe in short form how my life turned around. So I wrote a book about it. After 13 years of homelessness, I wanted to share the story of how God changed my life. I buy copies of my book, I Love You, But…, and give them to the homeless. By the grace of God I also started a nonprofit outreach organization, Songs of the Children. And I show motivational films to encourage and inspire anyone who wishes to turn his or her life around.
In life, anything is possible. With God at the helm, everything is possible. I love you (for your good works), but I could never love you as much as He does. Aloha.
