Social Networking and Addiction
The subject of this month’s Pearl Assessment is the ways in which the people around us influence our choices. In a recentĀ national survey of American attitudes, time spent on social networking sites is associated with an increased risk of teen smoking, drinking, and drug use. The survey found that teens who saw pictures of substance related behaviors on social networking site were more than twice as likely as those who did not use social networks to think they would try drugs in the future.
